We were delighted to welcome Paul Elliott as the newest member of the SoR Squad at our September meeting. Paul joined us for our 6 Nations event earlier in the year and decided that he wanted to join in the fun! Paul was proposed by our WM, Mark, who did an excellent job Initiating Paul, who was lead onto the field of play by our Junior Deacon, “Delboy” Reed and they were ably supported by the rest of the team. The “Bomb Squad” were brought on late into the fixture and did a superb job – but the player of the match award went to Bob Duffy who gave an excellent delivery of the Charge after Initiation.
The usual merriment followed in the post match proceedings, our fines monitor (aka Charity Steward) was at his ruthless best and our WM continued the tradition of his year wearing the skipper’s armband by making sure everyone joined in with “Sunshine Mountain”. Oh, and along with the charity money we collected during the meeting we also raised a further £310 from the raffle and fines to help support local Rugby in East Kent (see our Sponsorship & Support page for more info), hussah!
